Container at 37 Commercial Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
February 2001
I picked this container because it had such nice graffiti. I don’t know who the graffiti artist is. I’ve asked around but I couldn’t find anyone who knows either. While I was painting, a father came by with his young son. They were walking their dog. The father told me that his son was artistic, which his son hotly denied.
The painting wasn’t based on anything other than a desire to paint a sunset over the water, possibly because the container was so close to the water’s edge. The container has been moved now, and I don’t know where it is.
